Eligibility conditions for people with higher education diplomas

Students who have gained a teaching diploma, a lower secondary school teaching certificate, or a specialised educator diploma, or a Social Psychology assistant qualification, can take the Educational Sciences license once they have passed a preliminary exam and demonstrated that they have the required skills and knowledge. The content of the exam will be decided by the university authorities.

Beyond succeeding the exam, the university authorities can also impose a programme of complemntary subjects which will not exceed 150h. The exam on these subjects is integrated within the areas of the second cycle.

a) for students who succeed the entrance exam 5 courses will be added to the 1st year programme (cf the structure of the programme oulined at the end of the first year)

b) Students who either do not succeed or do not want to take their exam (discussed in the Ist line) nevertheless can enter the Educational Sciences license if they have succeeded the preliminary tests leading to the Educational Sciences license. In this case, the three courses that must be chosen are PSYC0022-1, ANTH0033-1 and PSYCOO27-1.

The overall structure of the license in Educational Sciences

first year

* Modules
The student must take, over the 2nd and 3rd license :
- three modules chosen from those offered by the Educational Sciences license;
- one module chosen from those offered :
  • Either Educational Sciences license courses,
  • Psychological Sciences license courses,
  • or the equivalent of optional courses. The programme must be approved in advance by the President of the Board of Studies, based on the student's written request. The President will judge whether or not the overall programme is coherent and appropriate or suggest useful changes.


Training Programme and training guidance seminars : 2nd and 3rd license (20 + 10 ECTS)

Training Guidance seminars are a part of every Traaining Programme.
  • training programme for the first stages of teacher training (90h + 20h training guidance seminars): 4 + 1 + 1 ECTS
  • training programme for continuous teacher training (90h + 20h training guidance seminars) : 4 + 1 + 1 ECTS
  • training programme for one of the modules chosen (90h + 15h training guidance seminars) : 4 + 2 ECTS
  • training programme for Educational Technology and/or Educational Research (90h + 15h training guidance seminars) : 4 + 2 ECTS
  • Open training programme, bearing in mind that the student's programme must comprise of at least 90h training outside school (90h + 15h training guidance seminars) : 4 + 2 ECTS

Producing and defending a dissertation at the end of the study programme
  • 10 ECTS in 2nd license
  • 20 ECTS in 3rd license

For fields which are not specified the students, together with the help of the President of the Board of Studies, who if necessary will specify an appropriate teacher, will negotiate a training programme, its content, length, where it will take place, at what time of the academic year it will take place and also its training guidance seminars, together with the teacher who agrees to accept this role.
