Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

Mastering the French language is one of the basic skills needed to succeed at university. This remedial course offers exercises to identify errors in spelling, vocabulary, grammar and comprehension, and aims to bring students back up to speed.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

By the end of these remedial sessions, students will have considered some of the key skills required in the French language to continue their university studies.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Level of proficiency in the French language equivalent to that attested by the CESS (Certificat d'Enseignement Secondaire Supérieur).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is based on the principle of the flipped classroom. In concrete terms, students will first have to prepare exercises on their own before each lesson (estimated working time 2 hours); then, during the online session (estimated connection time 1h30), they will benefit from the correction given by teachers and will have the opportunity to ask any questions they may have. Personal work is therefore essential for these remedial units to run smoothly.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Remote course

Additional information:

The course is organised remotely (the connection link is on eCampus) and takes place once a week (estimated connection time 1.5 hours).

Recommended or required readings

The exercises to be prepared and corrected in class, as well as the answers, are available on eCampus as the sessions progress. Work instructions for each week are also available there.

Work placement(s)

Organisational remarks and main changes to the course

Classes take place in Q1, from the week of 16/10/23 to the week of 20/10/23 inclusive (interrupted during All Saints' Day).

5 sessions are scheduled, on Thursdays 19/10/23, 26/10/23, 09/11/23, 16/11/23, 23/11/23, from 14:00 to 15:30.

Before each session, students must have completed the exercises requested (instructions on eCampus) and, after each session, they must read the answers (available on eCampus) and sometimes correct certain exercises themselves.)

Students are expected to participate respectfully in these language remediation modules.
