Pratique de la langue néerlandaise
The course develops the four skills in Dutch by means of practical reading, listening, written and oral expression based on tests and real audiovisual material taken from the Dutch-speaking Belgian media. By analyzing the supporting material, the students will be requested to ensure that they have a deep understanding of all the nuances and cultural references as well as implicit messages understood in the texts and audiovisual extracts. To ensure correct expression, a basic revision of the grammar is provided. Given the practical nature of the activities, active and regular participation is obligatory
Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course the student will be capable of :
-understanding and correctly transcribing the authentic audiovisual supports of medium difficulty from the Dutch media in Belgium.
-finding explicit and implicit messages contained in the written and audiovisual supports.
The will be capable, using correct language (written and/or oral) of:
-summarizing and commenting on texts with an average level of difficulty from the Dutch media in Belgium;
-explaining and paraphrasing sections of text;
-explaining in his or her own words, the nuances and cultural references in the supporting material;
-applying the grammar and vocabulary dealt with in specific exercises (themes, grammar exercises) and in an integrated way to apply it in a written and oral context;
-writing a coherent and correct notes on a text of medium length on a subject dealt with during the academic year.

- Revision of basic grammar and exercises
- Practical exercises to be prepared at home, in reading (comprehension: explaining and paraphrasing passages, answering questions relating to content, definition of words, the search for synonyms and antonyms, identifying the correct meaning of polysemic words based on the context).

Assessment methods and criteria
Pratique de la langue néerlandaise
- 15 % of the mark : continuous assessment (tests and assignments during the academic year, e-Tandem)
- 20 %: written exam in January (listening compréhension + grammar
- 35 %: written exam in June : writing, reading comprehension and translations of phrases.
- 30 %: oral exam : based on a file of press articles, the student will be questioned orally on the contents and vocabulary in the articles.
- Attention: students must pass both exams in June.
