Literary translation
In "Traduction littéraire" , students will translate (excerpts from) literary works written in Spanish and belonging to various text genres (micro-stories, picture books, short novels, novels) into French, paying particular attention to the genre-specific and stylistic characteristics of the source texts. The selected texts will address issues relevant to literary translation (including the translation of children's literature, retranslation, and the translation of multilingual texts). Students will also analyze published translations of certain texts and discuss the translators' choices and the effects these choices are likely to have on the reader.
