Courses are taken at Maastricht University. As the number of places is limited, a selection process will be organised during the first week of the academic year. Selected students will be exempted from taking the History of Law and European Institutional Law course (Block 2).
Students are exempted from taking the European Substantive Law course and one law course taught in a foreign language. They are required to submit a written assignment in European Substantive Law. The courses followed at Maastricht University form part of the Mobility module within the Languages and Mobility option.

The Faculty offers students enrolled in the Mobility option the opportunity to complete their final year of the bachelor's degree in law at Ghent University as part of an Erasmus Belgica agreement. As the number of places is limited, a selection process is organised at the beginning of the second year, during the first week of the academic year. Notice : the jury can grant an exception for a change in option during the bachelor's degree; in this case, the bachelor's degree in law is issued with no option.

The student continues with the choice of the first language other than French made in block 2. The board reserves the right to balance the groups across the law courses. If necessary, a random draw will be carried out.
Command of a second legal language other than French
Notice : Students in the "Languages and Mobility" option are exempted from this course if they have demonstrated proficiency in two legal languages other than French, including Dutch. In that case, the exempted credits are compensated by the course "Reading Annual Accounts".
Choose a text reading course in a second language other than French. Dutch is compulsory if the student has chosen English or German as their first language.

Students who, by choosing the Languages option, have demonstrated their language skills in two legal languages other than French, including Dutch, are exempted from the requirement to take a course in Reading legal texts in a second language (compulsory in Block 3 - 3 credits).

Optional additional courses (outside the programme)
This optional course is intended for students with only basic knowledge of Dutch, to help them prepare in advance for the final test scheduled in Block 3. This course is not included in the individual study programme (ISP), and the mark obtained in the test has no impact on the deliberation process: passing the test does not lead to the award of credits; failing it has no effect on the student¿s funding status.
