Learning unit contents
These sessions, focused on practice, draw both on experiences gained during the internship and on targeted refresher activities. They aim to strengthen students' professional skills through concrete activities involving reflection, analysis, and application.
Several concepts are revisited:
- The role of physical education within the school curriculum.
- The objectives of the physical education course.
- Terminal competencies.
- The organization of physical education in secondary schools (analysis of competencies and programs).
- Different approaches to teaching physical education.
- The use of digital tools.
- Classroom management, emotional management in physical education, and principles of motivation.
- The concept of physical literacy, the societal anchoring model, etc.
- Any other concepts useful for future physical education teachers.
Supervision of the internship by the General Didactics team can be conducted in two ways: an in-person classroom visit or an analysis of the lesson based on a video recorded by the student. At the end of the internship, students must submit a self-evaluation report. A document with detailed information will be provided to students on eCampus.
AFP:
Organized in disciplinary or interdisciplinary groups, AFP sessions aim to develop students' reflective stance before, during, or after an internship. Participation in AFP is mandatory. Except in cases of force majeure as assessed by the course coordinators, two absences (whether justified or not) result in a non-participation grade for the AFP.
One AFP session will be dedicated to self- and peer-review (auto-hétéroscopie). Students will therefore need to record a video during their internship and obtain the necessary permissions. A document with detailed information will be provided to students on eCampus.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The exchange and supervision sessions, organized between internship periods and supervised by the instructors, are based on the general principles of physical education teaching. They draw on concepts acquired in courses such as Foundations of Intervention as well as on the various pedagogical training activities previously completed. These sessions aim to gradually prepare students for their future profession as physical education teachers.
The internships are designed to prepare students for the autonomous and effective management of a class.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
This course draws on concepts covered throughout their training and also builds on the students' practical experiences.
All the specific courses in the initial training program in Physical Education/Motor Sciences provide the foundation upon which this course is built.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The exchange and supervision sessions, organized between internship periods and supervised by the instructors, include various activities such as individual and group reflection, co-analysis of teaching practices, feedback on experiences, and other activities designed to deepen and enrich the learning gained from internships.
Regarding the internships, the activities take place in schools under the guidance of a mentor teacher.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
