Learning unit contents

An overview of translation history from the origins to the 20th century and introduction to translation studies. 

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Allow the students to appreciate the role of translation throughout history.
Introduction to the theory of translation (its terminology, as well as key authors and texts).
Theoretical articles reading, discussion on leading issues in translation studies and introduction to translation commentaries.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

None

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Ex-cathedra lessons and note-taking. Course material will be handed over to the students.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Distance learning, two hours a week sessions during one Semester.

Powerpoint files are posted on e-Campus after each course session.

Assessment methods and criteria

Below you will find information on the evaluation methods planned for in-person and remote exams as well as those planned for hybrid sessions. Depending on how the health crisis evolves, the chosen method will be communicated to you no later than one month before the start of the exam session.
