Learning unit contents

The training course proceeds in a High teaching School or in an evening class .
This training course must allow the student, future teacher trainer, to accompagny an educational psychology professor in the various facets of its practice and to lead it to manage a course (to garantee resources , to arrange and manage situation of integration in preparation/ and or exploitation of the training course. The objective is to lead young teachers to become reflexive practitioners. It supposes to work at the same time with the development of their competences and their professional identity. The student will have to sensitize the future teachers with an effective and equitable approach by competences (APC)

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The future teacher trainer willhave to :

  • create contents of courses in order to sensitize future teachers with the APC (documents and tasks allowing the appropriation of theoretical concepts, the respect of the decreed documents, know-how exercices and the development of professional competencies ;
  • to manage this different tasks during the lessons they will give to future teachers;
  • to take part in various tasks (like team meetings, training visits, training courses evaluations, ...)

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Students will be grouped in pairs. They will have to conceive and teach a module (15 hours) in a teacher training school (pre-primary, prymary and lower secondary level of instruction) or in evening classes. They will be accompanied by a work placement mentor who is responsible for psychopedagogy course.

The reading file includes ;

  • legal references dealing with the considered theme ((décret Missions, Contrat pour l'école , circulaires concernant la formation des instituteurs et des régents, Socles de compétences, programmes des différents réseaux, ...)
  • a framing memo "former des enseignants pour une école juste et efficace"

  • some additionnal theoretical frameworks that deal with each groups work.

Assessment methods and criteria

The mark is divided in two parts :

  • 50% are linked to the assistant's report of the work placement ;
  • 50% are linked to the evaluation of the preparation of the module and of the report.

Adaptation of teaching commitments following the COVID-19 pandemic for the May-June 2020 session

Teaching methods implemented : distance-learning

Work to be carried out independently. The assistant remains available to students for any questions by email.

Assessment subjects

The evaluation is:
- the written analysis of a video sequence of a training session for future teachers;
- writing the report tracing his own professional development as a teacher trainer.

Assessment methods

students must report a written report (8 to 12 pages) with three distinct parts: product analysis, process analysis and procedure analysis. Each part must be successful independently of each other. Students who have already completed a few hours of internship, the written evaluation of their teacher is taken into account
