Learning unit contents
There are two objectives:
To raise student's awareness of research in the human and social sciences by developing and mastering conceptual and methodological tool.
To exercise students in research in the human and social sciences by articulating different tools and concepts around the same research object.
More specifically, it will involve accompanying students in the conduct of scientific research to prepare them for the dissertation.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The students will have to:
- realise different intermediaries exercices.
- define a concrete problem to analyze.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
METO0820-1 is prerequisite.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Participative seminar built around six modules.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
The teaching is: - organized into modules, - participatory and active based on the "reverse class" method, - face-to-face, - based on formative and evaluative group work.

Powerpoint of lecture + portfolio.
Assessment methods and criteria
There are two assessment methods:
- intermediaries exercices: 75%
- self-assessment: 25%
Work placement(s)
Second year internship for 60 days.

- briefing note,
- audio recording.
Assessment subjects
Ongoing evaluation including the content of the 5 exercises, oral presentations, peer evaluation and the self-assessment sheet.
This sheet is based on the evaluation of the acquired competencies as well as on a reflective and critical perspective on the research process conducted.
Assessment methods
The final evaluation of the seminar is based on two types of evaluation:
- in the course of the year: the peer evaluation of the six intermediate exercises (75% of the final mark of the seminar)
- at the end of the year: an individual self-evaluation form to be submitted by 18 May 2020 before 11:59 p.m. at julie.gerard@uliege.be (25% of the final mark of the seminar).
