Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

This course is devoted to the discovery of the preclinical imaging research field and more precisely to the in vivo structural and functional neuroimaging in small animals (rats and mice). The insights brought by these technics will constitue the core of the course. Pharmacology bases will be studied to allow the analysis of scientific papers. Three technologies are mainly addressed: positron emission tomography (microPET), microtomodensitometry (microCT and magnetic resonance imaging (microMRI). The technical aspects are briefly explained and "advantage and limitation" are highlighted for each modality. Data processing is also included as well as some practical applications. Some specific statistical processes devoted to imaging and data processing are also proposed.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The aim of this course is to highlight “advantages and limitations” of the in vivo small animal neuroimaging.
