Learning unit contents

This course is partially based on the textbook "Unternehmen Deutsch.Grundkurs" and introduces students to vocationally relevant vocabulary (business vocabulary, making arrangements, negotiating, working in Germany, understanding job offers, communication on the job, intercultural skills...)
The other part of the course consists in an introduction HR-related vocabulary. It aims at consolidating the vocabulary as well as the structures used in HR-related text taken from the German press. The texts will also be used as a starting point for discussions.
 Students are expected to work on a regular basis.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

- All four language skills (reading, listening, writing and speaking) are developed.
- Acquisition of general and work-related vocabulary
- Acquisition of more advanced grammatical structures through grammar drills and other exercises.

Assessment methods and criteria

Written and oral exam (in May/June and August).
- Written exam : 20 marks - Oral exam: 10 marks
All parts of the June and September exams are compulsory. Students absent from one of the exam parts will be assigned a mark of 0.

For obvious organisational reasons it is vital that students get hold of the coursebook "Unternehmen Deutsch. Grundkurs" as quickly as possible; ideally, before the beginning of the course.
Students are expected to work on a regular basis. Regular attendance is absolutely necessary and expected.
