Assessment methods

Oral exam on Lifesize (or Collaborate)
Duration: 20-25 minutes (no preparation)
The oral exam will be divided into 2 parts:
1. Thematic chapters
The student will have to answer 4 questions:

  • 2 questions (one personal and one 'content') on the documents from the chapter of the first semester chosen by the student.
  • 1 question on the content of a document from one of the chapters of the second semester.
  • 1 personal question on a document from one of the chapters of the second semester.
These 4 questions will be picked randomly.

2. Persdossier
This second part will itself be divided into 2 parts:
2.1. Discussion on the content
The student will have to answer 2 questions:

  • 1 question on the content of an article
  • 1 personal question in relation to another article
2.2. Discussion on the form (grammar)(in French)
This part replaces the written exam which was originally planned.
The student will have to analyse the grammar of some sentences from his 'persdossier' selected by the teacher. All the grammar points discussed during the first AND the second semester can be part of the selection.

The student will NOT be allowed to use his version of the 'persdossier' during the exam. The teacher's version will be shared on the screem.

Based on these changes, the weighting of the second semester will be modified as well. The weighting of the first semester (including the January exam) remains the same.
New weighting of the second semester 2019-2020

Assessment methods

Oral exam on Collaborate
Duration: 30 minutes (no preparation)
The oral exam will be divided into 2 parts:
1. Thematic chapters
The student will have to answer 4 questions:

  • 2 questions (one personal and one 'content') on the documents from the chapter of the first semester chosen by the student.
  • 1 question on the content of a document from one of the chapters of the second semester.

2. Persdossier
This second part will itself be divided into 2 parts:
2.1. Discussion on the content
The student will have to answer 2 questions:

  • 1 personal question in relation to another article
2.2. Discussion on the form (grammar)(in French)

January exam
Oral exam on Collaborate
Duration: 15 minutes (no preparation)
Translations: 5 sentences to translate from French to Dutch

Final weighting
The continuous assessment will not be taken into account if it impacts the final grade negatively.
The weighting of the June exam remains the same:
  • Part 1: 8/20
  • Part 2: 5/20
As initially planned, the January exam accounts for 5 points out of 20.
Two situations need to be distinguished to the students' benefit:
  • If the student had positive grades for some parts of the January exam (first session), the new grade will take them into account and the points of the translating exercise will be added to these.
  • If the students failed for all the parts of the January exam (first session), the new grade will only take the points of the translating exercise into account.
