Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

The first part will deal with an author from the 17th or the 18th century, his writing, different aspects of his life, his actions and his topicality (this year : Voltaire). The second part will synthesize an aspect of a general literary question relating to the first part of the course (this year : the heritage of the Enlightenment).

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

  • Students will be encouraged to develop a deeper view of the seventeenth and eighteenth-century French literature, of its historical background and favorite forms. This will mean direct contact with various texts written by one or more authors and possibly with various documents.
  • Students will be encouraged to become familiar with basic strategies used in literary research.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills
