Course contents : - Study of some grammar chapters: the construction of the complex sentence and the main introductory words for the subordinate clauses.
- Study of the vocabulary & oral discussion based on articles from Forum bij de krantenkiosk.
- Presentation of dialogs and study of the vocabulary of Tip Top voor het zakenleven through listening comprehension exercises.
- Other listening comprehension exercises (VRT, TV1, etc.).
- Grammar exercises, translation & vocabulary exercises.
Course objective : Development and improvement of the 4 language skills (reading, listening, writing, speaking) in order to reach a good mastery of everyday Dutch. Initiation to Business Dutch.
Prerequisites : LANG 550 and LANG 555: Knowledge of everyday Dutch.
Organization : 2 hours each week during the whole year.
1 hour for exercises (grammatical and vocabulary exercises) all uneven weeks (starting from the third week).
1 hour for tutoring, oral exercises, listening comprehension exercises all even weeks.


Conversation club (1 hour each week - possibility of taking part in a linguistic exchange)

Assessment :
  • 1st session assessment: In March: listening comprehension and vocabulary test on Taalnet 2.
    At the end of the year, written examination (translation and essay) and oral examination.
    During the year: presentation of newspaper articles and continuous assessment for the oral discussions about the texts from Forum bij de krantenkiosk.
  • 2nd session assessment : 4 parts:
    - translation on Taalnet 2 vocabulary.
    - listening comprehension test.
    - written examination (translation and essay).
    - oral examination.
