Programme content
This specialized track trains economists capable of addressing the major monetary and macroeconomic challenges that shape our societies. With a strong focus on issues related to monetary policy, financial stability, and short- and long-term macroeconomic dynamics, it provides a solid foundation in monetary economics, macro-finance, and financial institutions.
Thanks to close ties with the National Bank of Belgium,where many HEC Liège students regularly complete internships, this track combines academic rigor with immersion in real-world professional environments.
It prepares graduates for careers in central banks, supervisory authorities, financial institutions, and macroeconomic analysis units in both the public and private sectors.
Upon completion of the specialization, students will be able to:
- analyze macroeconomic and monetary dynamics using advanced theoretical and quantitative tools;
- understand and assess the mechanisms of monetary policy and their effects on the real economy and financial markets;
- grasp the challenges of financial stability and the role of financial institutions and central banks;
- apply macroeconomic and macro-financial models to inform economic decision-making;
- develop a critical perspective on economic policies in both national and international contexts.
