Placement

The Partim 2 Master's internship is a personal experience that gives students the opportunity to apply what they have learned to real-world situations by working in the field under supervision.

This Partim 2 internship allows students to:

  • explore a career path different from the one pursued during the Partim 1 internship;
  • or build upon the experience gained in the Partim 1 internship.
Students complete their internship (and therefore register for it):

  • either within the Faculty of Psychology, Speech-Language Pathology, and Educational Sciences;
  • or at an institution or organization capable of hosting (at least) one student and offering them an activity related to the professions associated with the career path targeted in this Part 2 internship.
An internship supervisor will be designated within the chosen organization.

The internship will be guided and supervised by an academic advisor from the Department of Educational Sciences at the FPLSE (or co-supervised with an academic or researcher from another faculty or department), generally with the assistance of a teaching assistant or a doctoral student.

The academic supervisor of the internship is responsible for defining expectations regarding the organization and educational content of the internship (prerequisites, duration, content, assessment methods, etc.) in a tripartite internship agreement, which therefore requires consultation among the student, the internship supervisor, and the academic supervisor.

Seminar

Students must attend 9 hours of compulsory internship support seminars.

Two cross-disciplinary seminars (total: 6 hours) will be organised during the academic year. They will cover the following topics:

  • Presentation, objectives and organisation of placements
  • Sharing experiences: my identity as a future Master's graduate in Sciences of Education
These seminars will bring together students from all three career pathways (EFE, ASC, CCD).

In addition, each academic coordinator will organise so-called 'field-specific' seminars (total: 3 hours) aimed at providing students with more specific support based on their chosen placement field. The arrangements for these seminars may vary from one academic coordinator to another. Each academic coordinator will inform their students.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Placement

The overall objective of the internships is to provide interns with situations in which they can appropriately apply the knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes they have acquired during their studies.

More specifically, the objective of the Partim 2 internship is to explore another career path or to further develop the project started during the Partim 1 internship.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Placement

The internship Partim 2 has as a co-requisite one of the three Internship Partim 1 (YSTG9033-1, YSTG9035-1 or YSTG9037-1). This means that it must be undertaken either in the same year or in the year following completion of the Partim 1 placement.

Each placement proposal may also have its own prerequisites (see the Excel list provided by the academic coordinators).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Placement

The purpose of the internship is to apply and develop skills in a professional setting. Students are therefore expected to be physically present at the internship site for at least 30 hours. However, preparatory or follow-up activities may also take place outside the internship site.

Students must attend the accompanying seminars concurrently with their internship period in order to integrate what they have learned in the field with the supervision sessions offered during the seminars.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Placement

Face-to-face course

Further information:

The internship will take place, for a minimum of 30 hours, directly at the workplace, with additional work to be carried out at home (or elsewhere, as agreed with the internship supervisor) in addition to these 30 hours.

Internship support seminars are held exclusively in person.

Additional information:

  • Students are required to complete a 90-hour internship, at least 30 hours of which must be spent in the workplace.
  • Students must complete the number of internship hours specified in the internship registration form. Credit for the number of internship hours is granted at the end of the internship based on the work actually performed and confirmed by the internship supervisor.
