Learning unit contents

Santé digitale appliquée à la médecine vétérinaire

This part of the unit introduces digital health applied to veterinary medicine: digitisation of clinical records and data interoperability; veterinary telemedicine and its limitations; sensors and connected devices for individual monitoring and precision livestock farming; artificial intelligence applied to imaging and diagnostic decision support; the use of animal health data for epidemiological surveillance within a One Health perspective; and the applicable regulatory and ethical framework (data protection, medical devices, the European AI Act). Particular attention is given to the methodological quality of validation studies and to the practitioner's role in decisions supported by digital tools.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

By the end of this part, students will be able to describe the main digital technologies used in veterinary medicine and how they work, identify the uses for which clinical benefit is documented, critically appraise the methodology and limitations of a validation study, situate a digital tool within the applicable European regulatory framework, and discuss the professional, ethical and relational implications of adopting such tools in practice.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Santé digitale appliquée à la médecine vétérinaire

Six hours of asynchronous online teaching on the Braintop platform, organised as modules combining short theoretical units, readings and self-correcting formative quizzes. Four hours of face-to-face teaching devoted to interactive sessions: case discussion, critical appraisal of articles, guided demonstration of tools, and follow-up on questions arising from the online modules.
