Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
- Medical imaging techniques: principles of image construction (radiography, CT scan, MRI, ultrasound)
- Osteo-articular and tendon anatomy in diagnostic imaging
- Manipulation of DICOM visualization software (navigation, brightness/contrast adjustments, zoom...)
- Cutting planes and radiographic projections
- Spatial orientation
- Correlation between diagnostic images and anatomical charts
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Technical Manipulation: Use a DICOM viewer to display, adjust (brightness, contrast), and zoom a medical image
Analysis of Projections and Cutting Planes: Identify the radiographic projection of an image or the cutting plane of tomographic imaging
Spatial Navigation: Navigate through a series of images to locate an anatomical structure
Anatomical Recognition: Locate and identify on a diagnostic image the structures (bony, articular, tendinous) corresponding to a labeled anatomical chart
Volumetric Exploration: Navigate through an imaging volume (CT scan, MRI) to find a specific anatomical level from a given instruction
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
None
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
- Introductory lectures on the principles of diagnostic image construction
- Practical tutorials organized by anatomical chapter (bones, joints, tendons) with exercises using real DICOM images
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Blended learning
Further information:
In-person and online (some tutorial sessions can be completed remotely and independently if students do not require supervision)
