Learning unit contents

This course offers a series of reflections on the concept of translation. In particular, it aims to broaden the concept by moving beyond its purely linguistic and textual application and connecting it to other types of practices, such as adaptation, plagiarism, localization, and audio description. Workshops on multimedia translation and the analysis of various supports (TV series, board games, songs, etc.) will test and reinforce the theoretical concepts (cultural transfer, eco-translation, intersemiotic translation, etc.).

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

By the end of the course, students will have deepened their understanding of the specific characteristics of translation as an intercultural and intersemiotic process and developed a critical (inter)disciplinary mindset. They will have acquired a solid theoretical and methodological framework and put their creativity to the test.
