Learning unit contents

The course is structured around three complementary areas: clinical assessment, health prevention, and specialized psychological interventions. (1) Clinical Assessment Methods This section of the course focuses on the main assessment methods used in clinical psychology and health psychology. Particular attention is paid to:

  • clinical interviewing techniques adapted to different care settings and clinical contexts;
  • methods of functional behavioral analysis, including the SORC model and Cungi's vicious circle model;
  • the appropriate use of validated questionnaires and psychometric assessment tools.
(2) Prevention and Psychoeducational Methods The course presents the principles and applications of psychoeducation as a tool for health prevention and health promotion. These approaches are applied, in particular:

  • within psychological and clinical support programs for patients with chronic illnesses, including oncology, cardiology, and renal disease requiring dialysis;
  • in interventions aimed at reducing or modifying behavioral and psychosocial risk factors, such as smoking, stress, and difficulties with treatment adherence.
(3) Specialized Psychological Intervention for Anxiety Disorders Finally, the course introduces an innovative approach to the treatment of anxiety disorders: Virtual Reality Therapy (VRT). Particular emphasis is placed on its theoretical foundations, clinical applications, and the evidence supporting its effectiveness.
