Learning unit contents

The aim of this course is to familiarize students with clinical psychology by raising their awareness of the scientific approach that underpins the discipline. Particular attention will be paid to the specificities of its application to older adults, whose needs and life circumstances require an adapted approach.

The course will also present the main clinical activities, including prevention, screening, and brief interventions, while highlighting how these activities relate to the practices of primary care psychologists, clinical psychologists, and clinical orthopedagogues.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Upon completion of this course module, students will be able to distinguish among the various activities carried out by clinical psychologists and understand their specific features, objectives, and complementarities.

They will also develop a more comprehensive understanding of the different modalities of psychological care and the benefits these interventions are expected to provide for patients.

Finally, students will acquire knowledge drawn from health psychology that will enable them to understand the challenges associated with prevention and screening activities, as well as their role in promoting health and psychological well-being.
