Learning unit contents

This course focuses on teaching neurological rehabilitation techniques applied to major disorders of the nervous system. Practical sessions enable students to integrate:

  • Bobath techniques, Kabat/PNF, Brunnstrom approaches.

  • Neurological testing.

  • Functional electrotherapy and denervated muscle stimulation.

  • Le Métayer principles.

  • Clinical reasoning and medical exercise applied to neurology.

  • Clinical analysis, conceptualisation, professional communication, interprofessional collaboration, re-evaluation and integration of the bio-psycho-social model

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The student develops the ability to:

  • Master key neurological rehabilitation techniques.

  • Analyze a clinical situation and adapt their intervention.

  • Apply scientific reasoning.

  • Communicate effectively with the patient and the team.

  • Integrate Evidence-Based Practice principles.

  • Work collaboratively and adopt a reflective professional attitude.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

The student must be able to:

  • Apply basic knowledge in anatomy.

  • Integrate fundamental principles of rehabilitation.

  • Apply theoretical knowledge in neurological rehabilitation.

  • Apply knowledge related to nervous system pathologies.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Practical sessions are conducted in small groups, focusing on:

  • Learning neurological rehabilitation techniques.

  • Hands-on practice.

  • Clinical analysis.

  • Professional communication.

  • Interprofessional collaboration.

Recommended work outside class Additional personal work is strongly recommended. It allows students to:

  • Consolidate the techniques learned.

  • Improve motor precision and intervention quality.

  • Strengthen scientific reasoning and conceptualisation.

  • Prepare for the oral examination.

  • Progressively integrate transversal competencies: communication, analysis, adaptation, re-evaluation, EBP.

This complementary work contributes to:

  • Better mastery of neurological rehabilitation techniques.

  • Coherent progression in professional competency development.
