Learning unit contents
Two weeks of clinical stage carried out in a hospital environment during the 2nd quadrimester, allowing the following notions to be applied : Massage, Mobilizations, Electrophysiotherapy, Biomechanics, Hydrotherapy, Mechanotherapy.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Learning Outcomes - First Clinical Placement By the end of this first clinical placement, students will be able to, under the supervision of a clinical supervisor and within the limits of the competencies acquired at this stage of their training:

Transfer the knowledge and skills acquired during theoretical and practical courses to real-life clinical situations, and appropriately and safely apply physiotherapy techniques previously learned.

Adopt a professional, ethical, and respectful attitude towards patients, their relatives, the clinical supervisor, and the various healthcare professionals encountered during the placement.

Establish appropriate professional communication with patients, by practising active listening, demonstrating empathy, and adapting communication to the patient's characteristics, needs, and context, including in intercultural situations.

Communicate and convey relevant clinical information, both orally and in writing, using available communication tools and appropriate professional terminology.

Progressively integrate into a healthcare team, identifying the roles and responsibilities of different healthcare professionals and adopting an attitude that promotes interprofessional collaboration.

Participate in patient history taking and the structured collection of relevant clinical data, and begin to analyse and interpret this information in order to contribute to an understanding of the patient's situation.

Perform, under supervision, components of the physiotherapy assessment appropriate to the competencies acquired, select appropriate tests and outcome measures, and relate their results to the information collected during the patient history.

Develop an initial structured clinical reasoning process, formulating simple hypotheses based on the information collected and identifying the main elements required to characterise the patient's functional status.

Identify the main components of the physiotherapy diagnosis and therapeutic plan, and understand the relationship between assessment findings, identified problems, therapeutic goals, and proposed interventions.

Progressively use the biopsychosocial model and the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) to develop a comprehensive understanding of the patient's situation, considering body functions and structures, activities, participation, and contextual factors.

Participate in the implementation of an individualised physiotherapy intervention, applying, under supervision, techniques, exercises, and preventive or therapeutic interventions consistent with the goals of care.

Observe and reassess the effects of an intervention, identify changes in the patient's condition, and discuss with the clinical supervisor whether the intervention may need to be adapted.

Integrate physical activity and movement into patient management, drawing on previously acquired knowledge of human movement, therapeutic exercise, prevention, and health promotion.

Participate in patient education, providing appropriate information and advice to promote the patient's understanding, engagement, autonomy and, where relevant, regular participation in physical activity.

Apply the principles of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) by establishing links between scientific knowledge acquired during the programme, the clinical situation encountered, and the proposed interventions.

Develop reflective practice skills by discussing and questioning their observations, choices, and difficulties with the clinical supervisor, identifying their limitations and learning needs, and using feedback to improve their clinical practice.
