To provide basic training in mathematics for future bioengineers, including an introduction to vectors and the main tools of single-variable differential calculus, as well as their application to the analysis and solution of problems.

To learn the fundamentals of descriptive statistics.

By the end of the course, students should be able to

  • apply differential calculus of a real function of a real variable to the study of functions;
  • summarize data in the form of tables, graphs, and parameters;
  • understand the vocabulary and key concepts used in computer science; understand the hardware components of their computer; use a spreadsheet to solve problems.
