No business can survive today without effective information management.Today, particularly in the era of artificial intelligence, a manager must be capable of collecting, structuring, analyzing, and processing the vast amounts of data accessible to companies to answer the numerous managerial questions they will face.
In particular, a Management Engineer, given their profile, will stand out by being able to use advanced tools and technologies based on more quantitative and scientific methods. Programming basics are essential for learning how to structure and manipulate data. These skills will be indispensable in their professional career and also serve as prerequisites for other courses in their curriculum.
This is intended to be an introductory course. It covers key elements of programming/algorithmics and structured thinking. It is not meant to be theoretical, but highly applied. To make it more accessible, concepts are covered through a "serious games" approach.
Course Content
- Concept of Management Information Systems (MIS)
- Algorithmics:
- analysis of management problems, identification of key elements, modeling, and efficient resolution methods
- Programming in C#
- Programming with rapid development tools (Unity3D)
- Fundamentals of databases and DBMS (MySQL) - User interface design (via Unity3D)
- Applied project: creation of a 3D game
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
- able to analyse and model management problems
- able to design efficient methods to better inform the manager and help him to take good decisions
- able to develop tools for basic problems and to interact with specialists for larger ones
- learn to discover emerging information technologies and evaluate their organisational potential
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Usage of a computer and standard software (operating system, mailing software, browser, office suite). These prerequisites are taught in mandatory course INFO2043-1 « Mastering IT tools »
