Learning unit contents

Part II continues the biological investigations commonly performed in the Clinical Chemistry laboratory:   biological exploration and detection of inborn errors of metabolism - biological exploration of systemic and specific autoimmune diseases - biological exploration of pathologies of the medullocortico-adrenal function - biological exploration of cardiovascular pathologies - biological exploration of allergies - biological exploration of tumour markers - biological exploration of the hepatic function - biological exploration of inflammation - biological exploration of phosphocalcic metabolism and osteoporosis - biological exploration of the thyroid function

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of partim II, the student will be able to interpret the results of a lab protocol and understand the variations observed (basic) between different results in a given physiopathology context.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Biochemistry, physiology, physiopathology, clinical chemistry partim I.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

None.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Face-to-face course

Further information:

A compulsory face-to-face session will be organised and will consist of small-group work (such as role-play) in which students (playing the role of the pharmacist) will interact with a patient (played by a supervisor from the Clinical Chemistry department). The patient will arrive with a set of laboratory results representing one of the cases presented in the course. The pharmacy students will be 'challenged' by the supervisor playing the patient
