Learning unit contents
The course ZFEN0017-1 is aimed at future trainers of primary and lower secondary school teachers, active in Universities of Applied Sciences (sections S1, S2, and S3). To best prepare them for entry into their professional role, it aims to equip them with the ability to translate the knowledge and methods specific to social sciences into learning arrangements adapted to students in primary school and early secondary school (common core).
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
This course pursues four objectives. The learner, considered as a future trainer of teachers active in the common core of compulsory education, must be able to:
* first, to question the methods of learning fundamental knowledge or skills in the early stages of the school journey in order to foster reflections and practical avenues for a pedagogical continuum of social education.
* second, to take advantage of observations made in situ and the study of records (frameworks, curricula, potential preparations communicated by teachers) to identify sensitive points in the design of learning devices in social sciences.
* third, to exploit the collected data (objectification and systematization) to propose a sociological translation of the observed problem (problematization) and to formulate concrete action avenues (design of a learning sequence dedicated to a basic concept in social sciences - Choice of a cycle?). * fourthly, to design a learning approach intended for future teachers in order to develop their ability to create themselves (collectively and individually) a learning device for a concept addressed within the framework of the FHGES common core curriculum. First, to design for the common core students and then so that future teachers can achieve the creation of this type of device.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Mastery of the French language. Knowledge of the FHGES reference framework, the knowledge and skills to be acquired in the social training of the common core. During the ZFEN0017 course, a systematic reading of this document will not be undertaken. Particular attention will be given to the arrangements presented in the social training programs of the different networks.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Presentation of the theoretical framework (sociology of the curriculum). Critical analysis of the devices presented in the social training programs. Observation of social training sequences in real situations. Use of the results of the observations. Design of an alternative learning device (choice of a social training sequence from the P1 to S3 programs) intended for common core students. Design of an initiation approach for future teachers of the S2 and S3 sections to the theoretical and methodological foundations of the social sciences approach and to the development of a learning sequence drawn from the S1 to S3 programs.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Blended learning
Further information:
Hybrid. The schedule of sessions will be agreed upon with the student(s).
Course materials and recommended or required readings
Platform(s) used for course materials:
- eCampus
Further information:
The reference documents (frameworks; programs) will be made available to students if needed. They are available on the official websites.
Written work / report
Further information:
Personal work comprising three parts: (1) State of affairs, field observations and reference frameworks - problematization (2) a learning device in social training aimed at common core students; (3) a scenario for an initiation process for future teachers of S2 and S3 sections into the theoretical and methodological foundations of the social sciences approach and the development of a learning sequence drawn from the programs.
The orientation and content of these productions will be motivated based on the reference theoretical framework (curriculum sociology) and the observations made in situ. Part (1)

Organisational remarks and main changes to the course
