Learning unit contents

Course description :

This will be a theoretical and practical course designed to train future physical education teachers in managing learner heterogeneity in their classes. This heterogeneity will be addressed through two areas of competence:

  • Sociomotor skills and citizenship

  • Motor skills and expression

In the theoretical sessions, students will first explore the concept of heterogeneity, the scientific models associated with it, and the validated tests that allow for its assessment.

In the practical sessions, students will engage in role-playing activities to practice using validated tests and learn how to respond appropriately according to the results. By the end of the course, they will also be required to design their own test battery.

Table of Contents
(this table of contents may be modified depending on logistical constraints):

  • Chapter 1 (theory) - Understanding heterogeneity and the importance of assessment

  • Chapter 2 (theory) - Introduction to standardized tests + introduction to appropriate responses in the field of motor skills and expression

  • Chapter 3 (practical) - Implementation of test batteries + application of responses in the field of motor skills and expression

  • Chapter 4 (theory) - Introduction to standardized tests + introduction to appropriate responses in the field of sociomotor skills and citizenship

  • Chapter 5 (practical) - Implementation of test batteries + application of responses in the field of sociomotor skills and citizenship

  • Chapter 6 (practical) - Adaptation and creation of tests

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

- Be able to assess the skills related to the fields of "sociomotor skills and citizenship" and "motor skills and expression" in order to define the heterogeneity of the class

- Be able to implement appropriate and adapted responses to students' heterogeneity

- Be able to draw on scientific models and validated tests to design one's own tests

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Personal experience as a supervisor, internships, and the didactic courses from the first two years of the bachelor's program will be drawn upon
