The speech-language pathologist professional development course sessions aim to encourage students to reflect on the profession of university speech-language pathologist.

You must participate in one https://forms.office.com/e/P3zQ1Dj5Qt from among the three seminars organized this year in Speech Therapy:
- Language development in children in a digital world,

Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
During the course sessions, speech therapists working in clinics and/or research will share their experiences, representing a variety of career paths. Students will be invited to prepare for these meetings and then engage in discussions with these professionals.
The seminars, meanwhile, are based on active learning. Students will therefore be actively involved in their own learning, and their participation will be essential. The sessions will alternate between individual reflection, small group work, and group discussions. Depending on the seminar in which students participate, the learning methods and materials may vary.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Face-to-face course
Additional information:
Face-to-face, supplemented with a web space (eCampus) for communication, information sharing and handing in the reports.
Course materials and recommended or required readings
The papers to be read will be loaded on e-campus
Written work / report
Further information:
For the course sessions, assessment is based on:
- a reflective summary written by the student on how their perception of the speech-language pathology profession has evolved;
- keeping a logbook;
- submitting two mindmaps (one at the beginning of the course and one at the end).
Remark concerning spelling: command of the French language is one of the basic competences in order to work as a speech & language therapist. As such, if the file handed in contains more than 5 spelling mistakes (usage and/or agreements) during the first exam session, students will receive a fail for the first exam session (5/20) and they will have to submit it again during the second exam session. If the file is handed in during the second session and contains more than 5 spelling mistakes, two points will be deducted from the student's course mark (/20).
Remark concerning the deadline for the report: students must respect the deadline for handing in the file. If a file is handed in late during the first exam session, students will receive a fail and will have to hand it in during the second exam session. If the file is handed in late during the second exam session, two points will be deducted from the course mark.
Remark concerning preparation for the session: Students are required to prepare the interview for the session for which they are responsible. Failure to prepare will result in a 2-point penalty on the final grade.
Attendance (For first-year seminars)
For seminars, assessment is based on student attendance for the entire activity (5 two-hour sessions spread over the first semester).
Work placement(s)
Organisational remarks and main changes to the course
During course sessions, learning takes place mainly through exchanges with speech therapists who come to share their experiences during the sessions. The involvement and commitment of students during the sessions is therefore essential to promote their professional development.
Participation in a seminar is strictly mandatory for first-year speech therapy students. You must therefore select two seminars that interest you via the QR code distributed within your faculty or via this link: https://forms.office.com/e/pnQNKKhDgh.
Based on your choices, you will then be divided into three roughly equivalent groups. You will then receive your final registration for one of the two seminars you have selected. The first seminar session will take place on October 7, 2025.
If it proves impossible to satisfy all students in this way (because, for example, it is impossible to divide students equally between the seminars), a random allocation will be made for everyone. The description of each seminar and all information related to the organization are available in the following document: https://dox.uliege.be/index.php/s/mLTOElyM94WFT1g
