Learning unit contents

Theory course

The sociology of work analyzes contemporary transformations in the world of work. One of these changes is the increasing importance of managerial logics, structured around certain values and logics (flexibility, adaptability, quantitative nature, etc.), which are changing the language used in the field of work, the tasks carried out and the skills expected of workers by employers. This course will use a critical approach to management to define and deconstruct these changes.

Through thematic lessons, this course will first focus on establishing why a critical approach to management and administration must be implemented. We will reinsert these issues within the context of the evolution of capitalism, a system that produces dominations. The course will then look at the effects of managerial approaches on workers. It will then present contemporary initiatives aimed at employees and focus on deconstructing their effects (teleworking, gender equality policy, diversity policies). In conclusion, we will ask ourselves whether other models are possible.

Additional work

Students for whom this course represents 6 credits are invited to contact the Professor so that he can give them instructions on the work to be done to justify the extra credits.

In the final grade, this extra work counts for 25% and the written exam counts for 75%.
