Learning unit contents
This course consists of 2 parts.
The first part deals with the theoretical underpinnings of staff appraisal, providing a context that is essential for understanding the approach, but also for practical intervention.
The second part offers students the opportunity to experiment with the theme of staff appraisal through a variety of pedagogical approaches and methods: interviews with professionals who have experienced appraisal, critical reflection in groups, presentations to peers, exchanges with peers, analysis of a request on the subject of staff appraisal, construction of an appraisal grid, testimonial-presentation by HR manager(s) on their appraisal practice, simulation(s) of appraisal interview(s).
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
- Understand the current context and challenges of staff appraisal practices within companies.
- On the basis of theoretical concepts and practical observations linked to the various experiments carried out around appraisal, develop a critical mindset in relation to the various practices and observations made.
- Understand the specific appraisal issues faced by companies through a multimodal pedagogical approach.

Multiple teaching methods :
- Traditional: "ex-cathedra" type, covering theoretical concepts
- Practical: interviews, observations, presentations, exercises, simulations.
- Reflective: building and using students' critical thinking skills around assessment practices
- Collective: discussions among peers and with one or more professionals about appraisal practices
