Learning unit contents

 

The course covers the historical development of knowledge in the psychology of emotions within the main themes that make up this field.

The main topics covered are:

Fundamental concepts and precursors in the field.

Definition of emotion.

How to measure emotion.

The physiological activation that accompanies emotion.

Facial expression of emotions - what are its roles?

The brain mechanisms involved in the emotional process

The role of emotions in cognition (thoughts)

The social sharing of emotions

The role of emotions in psychopathology and psychotherapy

 



 

 

 

 

 

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of this teaching unit

Students will have acquired basic theoretical skills in emotional processes and emotion regulation.

Students will be familiar with the fundamentals of the main scientific trends in the psychology of emotions.

Students will be able to distinguish between the different components of emotion.

Students will know how to measure the different components of emotion.

Students will be able to explain how an emotion is triggered.

Students will have a basic understanding of how the environment influences the expression of emotions.
