The seminar in ontology is organized in odd-numered year.
In 2025-2026, the seminar will be devoted to the concept of "Matter". For more details, see "supports de cours"
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Conceptualization and problematization of a fundamental question in philosophy; in-depth mastery of theoretical contents both in the history of philosophy and in contemporary issues.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Undergraduate philosophical education. Passive command of the English language.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Collective work on a philosophical theme through readings, lessons and talks as well as discussions.
The theme of the Ontology Seminar this year will be "Matter". In the first term, it will be held on Friday Sept. 26, Oct. 10, Oct. 24, Oct. 27, Nov. 7, Nov. 28, Dec. 5 and Dec. 12 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Meeting Space of the Philosophy Department. The work will be organized around presentations by teachers and guest speakers.
In the second term, exchange and discussion sessions will be set up tu support students in writing a text taking "matter" as a theme These sessions will take place on Friday February 20, March 13 and April 3. A fourth session could be organized at a date that suits the entire audience.
Students enrolled in "travaux de rechercheà partir d'un séminaire" will also be required to present a book, chapter, or paper of their choice during a session on May 8. A bibliography will be provided at the beginning of the year to guide students.
