Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

The objective of this teaching is the training of the student to the formulation in terms of composition, manufacture and evaluation based on physicochemical and biopharmaceutical knowledge previously acquired.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The objective of this practical work is to integrate by the personal laboratory work of the student all the problems related to the formulation, the manufacture and the control of the dosage forms on the basis of knowledge obtained with the theoretical course of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy partim 1 and 2. The attention is particularly drawn to the follow-up of Good Manufacturing Practice. During this practical work, the students realize dosage forms. For the majority of the requested work, the student are brought to make personal research. The learning objectives are to contribute to the acquisition of all the skills specific to pharmacists, as outlined in the learning outcomes targeted by the Master's program in Pharmaceutical Sciences
* Pharmaceutical expertise: Master and integrate scientific and technical knowledge in terms of the formulation and manufacture of extemporaneous preparations and be able to explain their biopharmaceutical aspects.
* Preparation and dispensing of medicines: Know, understand, and apply the practical aspects related to the formulation, manufacture, and packaging of extemporaneous preparations and be able to accompany their dispensing with sound advice in terms of storage and administration (theoretical and practical knowledge).
* Health advice: Provide sound advice geared towards the optimal use of pharmaceutical forms.
* Communication: Be able to explain orally the composition of a product and the manufacturing protocol for a compounded preparation to all interlocutors (fellow pharmacists or pharmacy technicians).
* Scientific approach: Be able to identify incompatibilities and optimal formulations by referring to scientific literature, particularly that relating to the physicochemical properties of active substances and excipients, pharmacopoeias, and the various formularies in force (FTM, etc.).
* Sense of responsibility: Deliver a compounded preparation of high quality in terms of content, microbiological contamination, and stability, including pharmacotechnical specifications.
* Quality: Be able to write a precise protocol for the manufacture of a compounded preparation in accordance with good pharmacy practices.
