Learning unit contents

Models of disability: medical, social, biopsychosocial (ICF, CRPD).

Definition and classification of neurodevelopmental disorders (DSM-5, ICD-11).

Learning disabilities: dyslexia, dysorthography, dyscalculia.

Neurodevelopmental disorders: ADHD, SLD, ASD, intellectual developmental disorder.

Impacts of these disorders on students' learning processes.

Inclusive teaching practices and reasonable accommodations in the school setting.

Critical reflection on ableism and capacitism in education.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Understand the main learning disorders and disabilities encountered in schools.
  • Identify the psychological, cognitive, and social impacts of these disorders.
  • Develop a reflective and inclusive attitude toward the students concerned.
  • Propose appropriate and well-argued educational approaches, in compliance with the legal framework (Inclusion Decree, reasonable accommodations).
  • Critically analyze complex school situations and formulate relevant adaptations.

Written exam consisting of two parts:

  • knowledge questions (concepts and classifications)
  • integration and reflection questions (case analysis).
  • Criteria: mastery of concepts, analytical skills, relevance of teaching proposals, clarity and rigor of argumentation.
