Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

This course focuses on the study of the most frequently used statistical or psychometric models in educational sciences, namely:

  • Linear regression;
  • Logistic regression;
  • Multilevel linear regression;
  • Multilevel logistic regression;
  • The difference-in-differences method
  • Item response models, including differential item functioning;
  • Confirmatory factor analyses, including invariance analyses;
  • The main types of literature reviews;
  • Classic meta-analysis models.
The course will also address the issue of estimating standard errors for cluster samples

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Interpret results published in peer-reviewed scientific articles that use one of the aforementioned models;
  • Verify whether the model's application conditions are met;
  • Determine the consequences of violating certain application conditions on the interpretation of results.
