Schedule

Schedule online

Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

Measure theory has many applications in mathematics, in particular in analysis, functional analysis, and probability theory.
The course follows up Integral calculus but focuses on the functional analysis aspects of the measure theory.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The topics will vary following the expectations of the students.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Integral calculus

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

If there are sufficient human resources in the department, the exercises will be supervised by teaching assistants. The theory presented in the course is supplemented by various examples and exercises.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Blended learning

Further information:

The course takes place during the second semester. Students are expected to work independently, but the instructor is available to provide guidance and support throughout the learning process.

Course materials and recommended or required readings

Course notes, covering the main subjects taught, are available at the beginning of the year.

Exam(s) in session

Any session

- In-person

oral exam

Written work / report

Out-of-session test(s)

Further information:

The evaluation takes place at the student's choice:

  • an oral exam on prepared material,

  • the presentation of one or several projects,

  • or a combination of both.

In all cases, the prepared material or project(s) must be communicated to the instructor at least one month before the exam date. A short written part focusing on exercises may, where appropriate, be added.
