Learning unit contents

This course offers an overview of several survivals of Antiquity in the arts and literatures of the modern and contemporary periods.

More specifically, the course aims to:

  • introduce students to several general methods for analyzing artistic and literary works;

  • help them identify relevant methodological tools to guide secondary-school pupils in developing autonomous approaches to the analysis and comparison of works from different contexts, including reference to specific textual elements.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • situate works within the spatial and temporal context of their production, analyze them from relevant perspectives, and understand their impact within contemporary cultures;
