Learning unit contents

This course will consist of several modules.

The first will cover basic didactic aspects aimed at familiarizing upper secondary school students with media education, contemporary cultural and artistic productions, and more specifically, so-called "digital" cultural and artistic productions.

The second module will provide a brief overview of some of the main characteristics of what is called "contemporary art."

The third module, closely linked to the previous one, will examine the social and cultural processes of artification.

The fourth module will address the initial integration of digital technology into the artistic field.

The fifth module will briefly cover the technical and economic aspects of digital art.

The last module will attempt to provide an overview of current digital artistic production, emphasizing the critical dimension of these contemporary works and the principles of "digital disobedience" associated with them.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of this course, the student will have developed a panoramic view of current artistic developments across all disciplines, with a particular emphasis on digital works; a critical and analytical perspective on current artistic productions, with a particular emphasis on digital works. At the end of this course, the student will also be able to develop in-depth analyses of several contemporary artists/contemporary works; to design and implement educational activities related to the analysis or production of digital artworks.

Written work / report

Further information:

The exam consists of an assignment divided into two parts. - Creation of an educational activity that would allow students to discover an artist/work related to digital art and to conduct a critical, in-depth, and meaningful reflection based on this artist/work. - Creation of an educational activity that would allow students to create a work involving, in one way or another, "digital" tools. It is important that this activity also allow students to reflect on the ins and outs of their artistic/cultural creation. This assignment serves as an exam. It can be completed individually or in groups. It must be submitted by email to the teacher. A deadline will be set during the session.
Same principle for the second session.
