Learning unit contents
Content:
The aim of this teaching unit is to encourage students to develop a reflective approach to media education using resources available to trainers and teachers: institutional texts, manuals, worksheets, kits, lesson plans, podcasts, video clips, etc. These resources can be analysed not only from an educational perspective, but also from an communication and media one.
Understood as documents, resources are the result of the material formatting of knowledge for circulation in society. They thus anticipate uses, prescribe roles for stakeholders in the educational relationship (students, teachers, trainers, media professionals, institutions, etc.), and express the aims of media education, its intended audiences, its objects (including theoretical knowledge and reference social practices) and the methods recommended for its implementation. Media tools also organise the dissemination of these resources: platforms, books, social media networks, etc.
Table of contents:
0. Introduction.
1. Issues in a critical study of teaching materials and educational resources in teacher training. Conceptual clarifications
2. Media education. Institutional texts (UNESCO, EU, FW-B/CSEM). Concepts and methods. Educational resources and training materials. Initial analytical approach, exercises.
