Course content: From idea to completed building
Course objectives
This course aims to give you the tools you need to understand and support the transition from an architectural idea to the actual construction of a building, taking into account the context (economy and players in the construction sector, etc.) and working conditions (ethics, means of action, etc.).

o Identifying the essential factors and parameters that influence this process.
o Discovering the principles of project management as applied to architecture.

o Learn about the tools used in professional decision-making.
o Identify financial issues and management tools.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
At the end of the first sequence, you will have a broader understanding of the construction and real estate sector and will have covered the basics of the sector's economy. You will be able to structure your position on ethical issues that arise in professional situations.
At the end of the second sequence, you will be able to identify and use the concepts, methods and tools appropriate to a project in order to bring it to good end.
At the end of the third sequence, you will be able to understand the constraints and modalities, as well as the opportunities presented by the management of an architectural firm and their impact on the production of architectural projects.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
No prior knowledge required
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is based on theoretical presentations combined with the creation of a personal analysis.
Acquiring a foundation of knowledge: Theoretical presentations (methods, references, etc.) are illustrated by oral presentations of experiences, projects and achievements. The course is based on PowerPoint presentations, copies of which will be provided in PDF format as the course progresses (some before the class session, others after, depending on the content).
Learning by doing: Students will observe a project management situation and carry out a critical analysis of it. This work consists of a detailed observation of a project management situation and will include:
* The choice of a case study and a description of the situation observed
* The research and analysis of data useful for understanding the different aspects of the situation
* Critique of the relevance or irrelevance of the solution(s) developed to resolve the situation
* Development of hypotheses and/or alternatives for resolving the issues related to the situation
Individual work is an important aspect of skills acquisition.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Face-to-face course
Further information:
Face-to-face classes, taught in French. Attendance at classes, which will include both lectures and practical exercises, is compulsory. Students will be required to complete additional work outside of class in order to produce their own work and study the subject matter.
Course materials will be provided via the eCampus platform as the course progresses. Students are asked to follow the announcements and use the collaboration tools made available to them on the platform.
