Learning unit contents
This writing workshop offers students a space dedicated to exploring the reflective, affective, and creative dimensions of writing in anthropology. It aims to foster a more conscious relationship to written language - to its stakes and effects - both in the construction of an ethnographic gaze and in the various forms of restitution, mediation, or creative expression it enables. Drawing on a range of writing prompts - inspired by fieldwork situations, ethnographic materials, or everyday experiences - participants will be encouraged to experiment with different forms, registers, and writing stances.
Each session combines individual or group writing exercises, shared readings, and collective discussions about writing processes. The workshop provides a space for critical reflection on stylistic choices, the role of subjectivity in writing, and the ways in which texts can be shaped according to specific aims, contexts, or audiences.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The objectives of this course focus on the exploration and refinement of:
- one's own writing techniques, whether personal, academic, or related to scientific mediation;
- the ability to take into account the intended purpose, target audience, and medium of communication when conveying ethnographic work;
- the ability to critically analyze and articulate one's stylistic choices.
