Learning unit contents

The Monetary and Financial Economics course covers monetary theory and policy, as well as basic financial theory. The program is divided into 2 parts:

Part 1: Monetary economics

  • Money and the money market
  • The demand for money
  • Money supply: money creation
  • The formation of interest rates
  • Monetary policy
  • Financial crises
Part 2: Financial theory

  • Modeling investor rationality: homo oeconomicus
  • Portfolio choice and risk management
  • Financial asset price formation
 

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The aim of this course is to acquire a coherent body of knowledge in monetary and financial economics in order to understand the economic and financial environment and its underlying mechanisms.

Courses in Macroeconomics and in Financial Markets.
