Learning unit contents

In connection with the international semiotics seminar in Paris, the Semiotics and Rhetoric seminar in 2023-2024 is devoted to the study of enunciation through the prism of Artificial Intelligence. This will involve examining the type of enunciative praxis implied by the use of databases, the enunciative gestures characteristic of Artificial Intelligence, and the enunciative scenographies used in immersive spaces.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of this seminar, students will be able to:

- participate in contemporary research in semiotics ;

- understand the theoretical and methodological issues involved in the enunciative question through the prism of A.I. ;

- carry out personal research on this theme, leading to the production of a written work.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Competence in French language is essential for an appreciation of the complexities of French discourse.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The seminar is organised in two parts:

- Q1: introductory session and participation in the sessions of the international semiotics seminar in Paris

- Q2: follow-up of individual work.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Active seminar. Classe attendance is mandatory.

The reference bibliography will be compiled collectively over the course of the sessions.

Additional information:

The assessment will be based on an individual piece of written work, in the form of a scientific article, on a freely chosen issue related to the seminar theme.

The assessment criteria are as follows

- theoretical interest and originality of the topic

- analytical finesse

- formal completion

- attendance at seminar sessions.

The seminar will be briefly introduced at the Masters presentation session on Monday 18/9/2023 at 10am in room 4/12.
