Learning unit contents

The course is aimed at students who already have a good basic knowledge of German and wish to develop their knowledge of business and sales vocabulary and to improve the five skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking and talking) in a sales-related context.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

This course will



  • help students to communicate efficiently, internally and externally, about a company, organization or project.
  • allow students to improve their proficiency in German as a foreign language
  • allow students to raise their awareness of the multicultural and international features of their environment.
  • encourage students to be curious and to show a scientific precision of academic level.
 

Level that can be reached at the end of the Master programme: European level B1 (even better if /B2)

 

 

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Students should already have the European level B1 or at least a very good A2

 This class is not intended for beginners! 

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is as active as possible:
Different sales and business topics can be covered, for example:

  • an einer Messe teilnehmen
  • Face-to-Face Angebote
  • Beschwerdenmanagement
  • interkulturelle Unterschiede zwischen Belgien und Deutschland
For each topic,
  • specific vocabulary will be presented on the basis of written, audio and video documents
  • then students will practise the five skills (writing, reading, oral comprehension, presentation, dialogue)
  • punctual grammar reviews

Additional information:

 

Students complete online modules during the semester (with homerwork to hand-in and deadlines that are to be respected!) and in-class sessions will be organised to answer the student's questions and follow their learnning progress. A time schedule will be communicated to the students.

The student who doesn't take all the parts of the exam will get a 0/20 as final mark.

 

An essay and listening comprehension exercise are to be handed in during the semester. 

Pieces of work are to be handed in/presented with a deadline during the semester and cannot be submitted at another time. Any piece of work which is not handed in/not presented on time will result in a 0.

It is necessary for the students to follow the schedule they will be given, including the deadlines and in-class sessions.
