Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
This course contains 2 parts: Part A concerns X-ray powder diffraction techniques, and Partim B concerns other analytical methods (interpretation of chemical analyses, SEM).
Part A
This course contains 4 chapters:
1. Production of X-rays
2. The structure factor
3. Symmetry
4. The powder technique
Part B
This course contains 3 chapters, and follows the basics of X-ray diffraction lectures:
1. Electron microscopy
2. Eectron microprobe
3. The chemical analyses of minerals
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The aim of this course is to introduce the students to the main tool of the Mineralogist: X-ray diffraction techniques, as well as to the chemical analyses of minerals.
