Learning unit contents
Description of the teaching unit:
This teaching unit aims at equipping the student to understand the stakes of digital media education, by first addressing their specificities, in particular the escorting discourses that condition their use by the public. The course will then provide the theoretical bases useful for the analysis of computerized media and digital messages, as well as a methodological orientation.A second part of the course will deal with case studies and will serve as preparation for the individual assessment work.

- Introduction: Observing critically the digital media and the escort discourse of digital literacy;
- Theories: The current challenges of Digital Media Education - Convergence and Participatory Culture/Remix - On transparency;
- Methods: Framework for digital media analysis and (digital) media literacy development;

Practices: Analysis of digital media and reflection on the implementation of an educational approach.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
At the end of this teaching unit, the student will be able to produce a critical analysis of a digital media by mobilizing the theoretical and methodological elements discussed in the course. He/she will also be able to identify the key elements of a media education approach (learning objective, skills, suitability for the target audience, etc.).

Additional information:
The assessment will be based on a personal work analysing a digital media, to be submitted on eCampus on the first day of the examination session.
The assessment will be based on the following criteria:
- Formally: compliance with the requirements for the submission of an academic work (correct use of language, layout, clarity, coherence, structure, referencing of sources in bibliography, etc.)
- In terms of content: correct use of the theoretical and analytical tools covered in the course in order to produce a relevant analysis of the digital media; ability to show reflexivity.
