In the second year of the Master in Human Resource Management, the students have to complete an internship. They also write a Master thesis consisting in an individual exercise of research following a rigorous approach.

In the second year of the Master in Human Resource Management, the students have to complete an internship. They also write a Master thesis consisting in an individual exercise of research following a rigorous approach.
This seminar aims to assist students on a punctual basis on the organizational and practical aspects of their internship and their dissertation.
 
 
 

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The  supervision provided in this course, by the thesis promoter/pedagogical tutor and the internship tutor, are intended to enable the student to: implement the skills of a reflexive practitioner acquired during his HRM course,

  • to write a critical analysis report of the device implemented place during his internship,
  • carry out a rigorous personal research anchored on his training ground,
  • produce, within the framework of the dissertation, original knowledge on a circumscribed object, using the knowledge, skills and methods acquired during the studies.

Le séminaire a pour objectif :

  • d'apporter un support technique et méthodologique aux étudiant.e.s dans la réalisation de leur stage et de leur mémoire,
  • de les aider dans les choix théoriques et méthodologiques qu'ils font,
  • de les suivre et de les accompagner durant leur stage et leur mémoire.
En outre, le séminaire a pour objectif de confronter les étudiant.e.s à la recherche en sciences sociales en les rendant tuteur.rice d'un groupe d'étudiant.e.s de master 1 GRH suivant le Séminaire d'accompagnement à la recherche et de préparation du stage (SEMI0731-1).
At the end of the seminar, the student will be able:
  • to organize his academic year by carrying out an internship and a dissertation together,
  • to respect the FaSS deadlines,
  • to structure and to write his dissertation and internship report,

Hybrid teaching mode via the eCampus platform (https://www.ecampus.uliege.be/). The course is designed to be participatory and dynamic. (In the event of an internship abroad, a solution will be negotiated: do not delay in contacting the teacher and the president of the jury).

  • The pedagocical tutor  - 40% 
  • The intership tutor  - 30%
  • Work of seminar - 30%

Additional information:

Submit a reflective note of maximum two pages on the experience of the tutor during the seminar: briefly present the work of the group supervised (starting question, object of research, methods used, framework of analysis, modes of interpretation and inference), explain the difficulties experienced and the solutions found, the contribution as a resource person, etc. Work to be handed in via eCampus and the homework tool by the first day of the exam session.

The internship will take place during the second quarter of the second year of the master's degree (except in exceptional cases) and for a duration of 60 days, 4 days a week.
The schedule of the internship will be defined with the host organization, taking into account the content of the tasks agreed between the contracting parties.
The search for the internship is left to the student's initiative.
In order to start the internship, the student must have completed and signed the following documents in triplicate:

  • the internship agreement
  • the risk analysis sheet
  • the task list
A copy of these three documents must be sent by e-mail to Ms. Pulgar (npulgar@uliege.be) before the start date of the internship.
They can be downloaded from the "Regulations" page of the Faculty's website: www.fass.uliege.be/reglements .

Organizational remarks

  • First session: Thursday 30/09 at 9:00 am (see course schedule)
  • Regardless of conditions related to the health crisis, the seminar will be held remotely during Q2 to allow students to attend during their internship.
  • Beyond the seminar, the thesis sponsor/internship tutor is the reference person for your supervision.
