Learning unit contents

  • Physical geography: elements of Quaternary geology, geomorphology, pedology, superficial terrains analysis and elements of hydrology.
  • Live and build on the planet, geographical backgrounds.
  • The Sun and the movements of the Earth, their impact on climate variability.
  • From natural regions to polarized regions, an element of rural, urban and regional geography.The evolution of "city-countryside" relations that structure and destructur the urban and rural spaces.
  • Landscape analysis vis-à-vis spatial planning.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of this teaching unit, the student is able

  • to solicit the environment in his project. He apprehends the natural constraints and he understands the reciprocal relations that bind the natural environment, the built environment and man
  • to grasp the elements and their characteristics that make up and shape the different terrestrial environments. He is familiar with their balances and their evolution, whether natural and / or anthropogenic
  • to possess the theoretical bases concerning the understanding of the site on which it acts.
The student is also able
  • to evaluate the adequacy of its project to the natural regions studied
  • to apprehend the urban space. He grasps the importance of the various flows induced by urban functions and draining polarized regions. It is these flows that build and structure cities and space.
