Présentation de la discipline de l'histoire de la construction en mettant en évidence les apports des autres disciplines à ce large champ de recherches et en soulignant ce qui la distingue de l'histoire de l'architecture ;
Présentation de l'historiographie propre à l'histoire de la construction depuis les traités anciens jusqu'à la production scientifique actuelle.
Présentation de l'histoire et l'évolution du chantier du chantier durant la période envisagée ;
Présentation de chaque matériau de construction en usage depuis l'Antiquité jusqu'à la première moitié du xixe siècle ;
Présentation de la richesse des mises en uvre de ces matériaux dans une perspective diachronique, mais également géographique.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
This course is a first contact with research in the field of construction history;
Acquire and refine knowledge in the construction history (historiography, materials, implementation, history of building sites in a diachronic vision);
To understand questions of epistemology and methodology in order to sharpen the students' critical thinking and to develop and enrich certain aspects of university research;
Acquire a specific and precise vocabulary in relation to each covered theme and subject.
To develop the students' ability to read the historical environment on the basis of the construction methods and used materials;
Finally, to situate their own practice in a historical continuity by understanding the importance of materials and techniques in architectural design.
